Born Philip Monk on 14th December 1963 in Wigan, Lancashire. The middle child of three boys Phil was brought up in Ince, Wigan. Then in October 1974, at the age of 10 his family moved north to Sunderland, Tyne & Wear.

After leaving Monkwearmouth comprehensive school, Phil began a five year apprenticeship as a printer. On completing this he decided on a change of career, as a DJ. After scraping together enough money to purchase a mobile disco system he hit the road doing weddings, birthdays and whatever work he could find. Starlight Express Mobile Disco was born!

Probably because of poor opposition Phil enjoyed much success very quickly, he found he was very much in demand. Only 9 months into his DJ career he had landed a residency at the First Leisure nightclub, Bentleys.

With a capacity of 1200 it was Sunderland's largest nightclub and consequently gave Phil a higher profile. A number of First Leisure venues up and down the country followed over the next few years.Wee Phillie was a phenomenal success and in 1998 was asked to perform his show in the party capital of the world, Blackpool. As word spread The Flagship Bar on a Sunday lunchtime became the in place to be seen. Phil is now into his fifth record-breaking season.

In 1993 Phil decided to move further a field. After a short spell in Tenerife he thought it would be fun to work the summer season in Benidorm on Spain's Costa Blanca. Phil was situated in the heart of Benidorm's nightlife at The Hippodrome nightclub. Much fun was had by all and when the season was over Phil returned to England to continue his career.

With the exception of a short spell in Grand Canaria Phil has spent the bulk of the 90's working for the Idol's Fun Pub chain in Whitley Bay, Newcastle, Sunderland, South Shields & Manchester. It was whilst working here that Phil decided it would be a good idea to create the character WEE PHILLIE, a rude, crude and very blue 'shock-jock'.

On a weekend (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights) you can
now find Phil working from 10pm in Buffalo Joe’s Saloon Bar, on the Quayside in Gateshead. Please don’t expect to see the rude, crude side of Wee Phillie this is just a nice fun party atmosphere. You can hear all your favourites from years gone by, have a good time and wave your knickers in the air (if you wear them!). In 2001 Phil became the star of Party Nights, a 'fly-on-the-wall' documentary for Tyne Tees Television. Just watch this space and stay tuned to the website to keep you up to date with all what's going on.

Since Phil’s divorce in the summer of 2005, he now enjoys a new bachelor lifestyle. Having a fantastic pad, all the gadgets a guy could ask for, non-stop round-the-clock parties and no-one putting restrictions on what he does, it means Phil is free to work hard and play even harder. Living alone now also means he can spend lots more quality time with the most important person in his life, his son, Danny.
